The maker's story
Where faith meets the grain
Every piece that leaves this workshop carries a piece of the story — the quiet mornings, the patient hands, and the belief that beautiful things are worth making slowly.
How it all began
Faith & Grain Woodworks started the way most meaningful things do — not with a business plan, but with a calling. What began as a way to create meaningful gifts for family and friends grew into something I never expected: a community of people who believe that handmade things carry a different kind of weight.
I work out of a small shop, surrounded by the smell of fresh-cut wood and sawdust. Each piece is shaped by hand, finished with care, and sent out into the world with a quiet prayer that it finds the right home.
The name says it all. Faith is the foundation — it shapes what I make and why I make it. Grain is the reminder that every piece of wood has its own story, its own character, its own beauty waiting to be revealed.
The craft philosophy
Slow by design
Good woodworking cannot be rushed. I take the time each piece deserves — from selecting the right blank to the final hand-rubbed finish.
Faith in the material
Wood is a living record of time and weather. I work with the grain, not against it, letting the natural character of each piece guide the final form.
Made to be kept
Every item is built to last a lifetime and beyond — heirlooms, not novelties. The goal is always something you'll want to pass down.
Woods & materials
The species I reach for most often each bring something different to the bench.
Black Walnut
Rich, dark, and deeply grained. Walnut is my first choice for crosses and statement pieces — it ages beautifully and carries a natural gravitas.
Cherry
Warm reddish tones that deepen over time. Cherry is a joy to turn on the lathe and makes pens and pencils that feel like heirlooms from the first use.
Maple
Pale and tight-grained, maple takes detail work exceptionally well. I use it for ornaments and pieces where crisp lines matter most.
Cedar
Fragrant and lightweight, cedar brings warmth to seasonal pieces. Its natural oils mean it holds up beautifully over years of handling.
